The amount of community-owned renewable energy generation in Oxfordshire is set to double over the next year. Currently, the electricity generated is sold to the organisation where the installations are sited. Any surplus is then exported into the grid. Electricity market regulations means it would only be possible for locally produced electricity to be sold direct to local householders if the community generators became licensed suppliers.
Osney Lock Hydro and the Low Carbon Hub want to understand how local people would view the opportunity for local householders to buy locally generated renewable electricity to power their homes. This will help them as we develop our plans for the future. If you can spare a couple of minutes, please complete their survey and pass on details to anyone else who may be interested.
